Jennifer M. Gidley, PhD
Professor Jennifer Gidley is an author, psychologist, educator and futurist. A leading researcher on the urgency of “new thinking” to navigate the complexity of global futures, she is a global thought leader with expertise spanning educational and youth futures, new thinking, and sustainable urban development.
Jennifer is Adjunct Professor at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS, Sydney and recently completed two new authored books.
The Future: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press) Release Date 23rd March 2017.
Postformal Education: A Philosophy for Complex Futures (Springer International, Netherlands) was released in August 2016.
As former President (2009-2017) of the World Futures Studies Federation, a UNESCO and UN ECOSOC partner and the global peak body for futures studies, she led 300 of the world’s leading futures scholars and researchers from over 60 countries.
Her research, speaking and consulting invitations over the last ten years have taken her beyond Australia to Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
She co-edited the books: “University in Transformation” (2000) and “Youth Futures” (2002) and special issues for the journal Futures include “Global Mindset Change” (2010) and “Educational Futures” (2012); has published over 50 academic papers; and serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals.
